Tom Lukiwski, Conservative candidate for Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan, today praised Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer’s election pledge to reduces taxes on Canada’s lower income bracket.
“This is the big difference between the Conservative Party under Andrew Scheer and Justin Trudeau’s Liberals. Trudeau is a trust-fund kid who was born into wealth. Andrew comes from a regular middle-class background. He understands how ordinary Canadian working families struggle to make ends meet,” said Lukiwski.
Scheer’s tax cut plan would reduce the income tax rate for the lowest federal income bracket - the one charged on income up to $47,630 - from 15 per cent to 13.75 per cent over the next four years. When fully implemented, the cut would save an average two-income family $850 dollars a year.
“That comes to about $70 a month, which goes a long way to buy groceries for families struggling to get by,” Lukiwski said.
“For the past four years, the Liberals have spent your tax money catering to their friends. They gave Omar Khadr $10.5 million. They tried to cut a sweetheart deal for their buddies and donors in SNC Lavalin. They’ve handed hundreds of millions of dollars to special interests across the country,” Lukiwski said.
“It’s time for that to stop. It’s time for you to get ahead. If we’re elected, we will put the focus of government back where it belongs – on the well-being of average Canadian working families.”
